What Type & Brand of A Bed Duvet Cover Should You Buy?
Every time you go to bed at night, you pull something up over you to keep you warm, usually. What is that,
for you? Is it a raggedy old blanket or quilt that has seen better days? If that's true, you may need a new way to
cover yourself, namely a bed duvet.
Just about anything can keep us warm, true, but nothing quite beats a down comforter or, if you are allergic to
down, a down alternative comforter. The problem is, a down comforter is pretty fragile, and while you can wash it
about once a year, you are not going to be able to wash it every time gets dirty. For that reason, you'll need a
bed duvet to cover it for you.
And make no mistake; even though you'll invest something upfront, certainly, for your down comforter and bed
duvet cover, and even though that might be more expensive than you'd like, it's going to be a true investment
that's going to last for years.
With a full duvet cover, you'll be able to have your cake and eat it too; you can wash a bed duvet cover as
often as you need to, to keep things fresh, but the best part is, changing your bed duvet cover every now and again
to a fresh new look is a great way to freshen up your room, too.
In other words, change your full duvet cover to a different one, and you can give your bedroom a completely new
look -- all without ever having to pick up a paintbrush, re-carpet, or do anything else that's going to be
labor-intensive.
You have lots of choices when it comes to a bed duvet, too. There are lots of retailers on the Internet who sell
these things, you'll find good prices because there's competition, and all of these retailers want your business.
So don't be afraid to look around and find something that matches your décor and your tastes exactly -- and while
you're at it, why not get several?
You should know that a good-quality bed duvet cover is probably going to cost you a little bit of money. Expect
to pay about $50 or more for a very good quality bed duvet. The good news is, though, by washing your bed duvet
cover on gentle in your washing machine (front loading is best because it's easier on fabrics), you can avoid
dry-cleaning costs and actually save money in the long run.
How much should you spend on a bed duvet/bed duvet cover/full duvet cover?
Again, many places are going to charge about $50 or so for a good-quality full duvet cover, but because the
Internet is ever changing and because there's so much competition, there's really no fixed price. For example, a
simple cotton bed duvet/bed duvet cover/full duvet cover may run you just a few dollars, while one made of silk,
velvet, or wool may be a bit more expensive. The sky's the limit, really, and all that really matters is that you
find one you like, and then comparison shop between retailers online before you buy, so that you know you'll get
the best price.
Finding the right bed duvet
The best place to start, usually, is on the Internet, if you're looking for a bed duvet. However, because a bed
duvet cover is becoming very common these days, you can find one just about anywhere, including department stores,
specialty retail shops like bedding stores, and so on.
One thing to note is that you should shop online even if you decide that you want to buy from a local retailer,
to get an idea what you want, what's out there, and what would look good with your current décor.
Which full duvet cover brand should you buy?
Although there are some good brands out there, and I will list them here, don't let these names limit you. In
fact, there are many good new brands springing up all the time, and all that falls to you, really, is to find one
you like. However, that said, high quality and popular brands include Nautica, Croscill, Calvin Klein, and Tommy
Hilfiger.
