Do You Want Luxury or Femininity in Your Bedroom? Try a Silk Duvet Cover or a Floral Duvet
Cover
For most of us, beds are for sleeping, and we may not think a lot about what we put on top of them. Maybe
that ragged old bedspread your grandmother gave you when you went to college still adorns your bed. However, if you
think it's time to move into something more stylish and even luxurious, try a silk duvet cover or a floral duvet
cover.
Although a silk duvet cover or a floral duvet cover by itself won't keep you warm, you can use it to cover a down
comforter, which most certainly will. However, down comforters (or alternative down comforters, if you are allergic
to down) aren't without their problems.
That is, down comforters by themselves can be very cumbersome to wash, and they're very fragile as well. In
general, manufactures recommend that you wash them only once year, or get them dry-cleaned instead. This can get
expensive, because of course you're not going to be able to keep your down comforter clean for an entire year,
likely, and your down comforter isn't going to last you that long if you are always cleaning it.
There's an easy and inexpensive way to take care of that problem, and it has the added benefit of helping you
"spruce up" your décor in your bedroom, too. That is, buy a silk duvet cover or a floral duvet cover -- or several,
in fact, so that you can change out your look whenever you want.
While silk denotes luxury (and will require some of its own special care), a floral print for your cover gives you
a bit of country, the outdoors, even femininity -- and you can do so in any material you wish, including cotton. In
fact, there are duvet covers available in every material and style so that you can choose exactly what you
want.
That said, of course, if you want silk, it's still going to be far easier to take care of it if it's a duvet cover,
since you can simply gently wash it by hand; a floral print is probably going to be machine washable, and easily
dried in the dryer, too.
Where do you find your floral duvet cover or silk duvet cover?
You can find either of these types of duvet covers (silk or floral) at major department stores, specialty bedding
stores, even "big box" stores, or online. In fact, one of the best places to shop for your floral duvet cover or
silk duvet cover is online, even if you eventually intend to buy it from a retailer near you. That's because you
can compare prices, colors, and styles, and then take that information in hand to go purchase what you want
locally. However, as long as you know what the dimensions are, buying online usually gets you a pretty good
guarantee of getting what you want; just make sure you check online retailers out and check customer reviews to
make sure the retailer you choose is on the up and up, so that you'll be satisfied with what you get.
Choosing a brand
Don't limit yourself to any brands; the "younger" crowd may want to go for Tommy Hilfiger, while Calvin Klein is a
little bit more "standard." However, these names and other names like Croscill and Nautica can be pretty pricey,
and what you really want is a good solid silk duvet cover/floral duvet cover that will last you for a long time,
with proper care. Therefore, "brand" is becoming increasingly unimportant, unless you really want to go for a
"name."
